How to attend a gig as an audience member in Japan

- DOs

  • Go to a club by yourself, for yourself, on your own: at most in a party of two.
  • Be quiet in a club: the audience is quite attentive to the music being played and the stage talk being made.

- DON’Ts

  • Do not go to a club in a big party: most of the venues in Japan are independently-operated small businesses as well as a tiny space.
  • Do not be loud in a club: the audience is quite attentive to the music being played and the stage talk being made.
  • Do not smoke in a club: even if smoking is not prohibited, do not smoke! Almost all the players and spectators hate smoky vibes.
  • Do not take photos or shoot videos: if somebody is taking photos or shooting videos, he or she has got permission to do that.
